HOW TWEET

I have been a big fan of Twitter ever since seeing the beta version about 18 months ago (the one with a 2D map of the world – a bit like virtual Risk with California heavily over-indexing on the troops). But while one has eyes on many pies, the Daily Geek is careful who to throw its passions at – there’s only so much love that the DG has to go around. Twitter, however, is too intriguing, enlightening, adorable and intriguing not to be a part of. That said, a pal of the DG let me into a little secret t’other evening. He and his chums on one of Britain’s best-selling newspapers had pulled together a cracking feature called “Twatter” – a lowest-common denominator but highly amusing spoof about “them celebrity saddo’s wot use the internet”, hauling some of Twitter’s more famous users over the coals. I thought it would have been hilarious, but the lawyers spiked it at the last minute. So, today’s lesson is: always create a fake p9 to get it through legal.
